National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day

September 30, 2021 All day

Our office will be closed on September 30th.

September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (federal statutory holiday), which gives the public a chance to recognize and commemorate the intergenerational harm that residential schools have caused to Indigenous families and communities, and to honour those who have been affected by this injustice.

Every year on September 30th, people across Canada wear orange and participate in Orange Shirt Day events to recognize and raise awareness about the history and legacies of the residential school system in Canada. Orange Shirt Day originates from the story of Phyllis Webstad from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation.
