About the Opportunity
We are presently sourcing for Registered Nurses (RNs) to service remote communities within Northern Manitoba supporting Indigenous Services Canada.
We have 1-to-2-week coverage assignments available for ongoing full-time work.
Positions are overtime eligible, and a travel allowance is provided.

Key Responsibilities
As a primary care community health nurse, the duties include:
- Collaborate with physicians/nurse practitioners/physician assistants and the nurse in charge to deliver care within an expanded scope of practice, delivering healthcare services to prenatal and adult patients for trauma and primary care. This includes newborn deliveries, treatment of minor acute illnesses and injuries, and conducting general treatment clinics.
- Implement the nursing process by employing skills in primary survey, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health education according to the clinical care pathways.
- Administer interventions and monitor the effectiveness thereof to address psychological, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of needs of clients.
- Delivery of the holistic culturally competent community care to remote and/or isolated first nations communities in Manitoba.
- Provide ethical, high quality and competent care to patients of all ages and at all levels of acuity including neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
- Within the designated community nursing stations, the community health nurse works at the expanded scope of practice level in collaboration with the consulting physicians (present or remote), the charge nurse, the nurse practitioners, the physician assistants and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively to obtain subjective, objective assessment data and complete an in-depth physical examination using advanced assessment skills.
- Within scope, rely on evidence-based guidelines using the national care pathways and other provided resources to deduce diagnoses, negotiate and implement care plans, provide health teaching and assure adequate follow-up to evaluate care effectiveness.
- Intervene in the contexts of unstable clinical situations, effectively facilitate communication with the local and remote consulting teams, participate in planning, organizing, and implementation of medical evacuation as needed
- Document care according to the guidelines.
- Manage difficult situations according to protocol and involve the necessary support teams.
Requirements
- Current Manitoba RN license
- ACLS
- BLS
- PALS
- ITLS
- Transport of dangerous goods (Ground/Air)
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Experience working within remote communities
- Emergency experience as a Registered Nurse, an asset.
