SUMMARY:Webinar: Safe Patient Handling for the Emergency Department
DESCRIPTION:Caregivers in the Healthcare Industry continue to be one of the most at risk groups for occupational musculoskeletal disorders. Each year when the Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes occupational injury incidence rates\, caregivers in Health Care remain near or at the top of the list. Awareness to this ongoing problem is growing\, however effective solutions need to be investigated and implemented. This presentation will consider caregivers in Emergency Departments and explore the occupational risks they face each day. Risk factors will be identified and discussed. Strategies for finding solutions will be presented with examples of specific solutions suggested.

SUMMARY:Grand Rounds: Post-COVID respiratory management
DESCRIPTION:COVID19 survivors suffer from persistent respiratory symptoms and functional limitations after the acute infection. Longitudinal studies after SARS-CoV2 infection showed impairment in lung function exercise capacity and Lung imaging abnormalities. In this lecture\, we review possible post covid pulmonary involvement with a focus on whether they develop fibrosis. We also review the latest evidence on the long term follow up. Possible treatment strategies are discussed including antifibrotic therapy\, mesenchymal cell therapy\, prolonged steroids therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. We conclude with recommendations for pulmonary follow up and post covid clinic design.

SUMMARY:National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day
DESCRIPTION:Our office will be closed on September 30th. \n\n\n\nSeptember 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (federal statutory holiday)\, which gives the public a chance to recognize and commemorate the intergenerational harm that residential schools have caused to Indigenous families and communities\, and to honour those who have been affected by this injustice.  \n\n\n\nEvery year on September 30th\, people across Canada wear orange and participate in Orange Shirt Day events to recognize and raise awareness about the history and legacies of the residential school system in Canada. Orange Shirt Day originates from the story of Phyllis Webstad from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation.

SUMMARY:Grand Rounds: Breaking Bad News in the ICU
